    Maca (Lepidium meyenii, peruvianum, root) is a Peruvian tuber plant that grows in the high Andes Mountains and belongs to the Brassicaceae family.


    Partially due to its effects on energy, endurance, libido, and vitality, maca has also been called "Peruvian ginseng" or "Andean ginseng."


    Maca is the only edible plant capable of surviving in harsh weather conditions at altitudes between 3000 and 4000 meters.
