HydraLyte uses a proprietary formula containing a precise amount of glucose and electrolytes to rehydrate you faster than water alone. Water alone doesn’t contain electrolytes, which is why dehydration is so common. How Does an ORS Solution Work? ORS contains specific amounts of glucose and electrolytes. These components maximize fluid absorption in the gastrointestinal tract. The gastrointestinal tract relies on sodium-glucose cotransporters (SGLTs), which are carrier proteins found in the intestinal cells. These cotransporters help move substances across membranes efficiently. Directions for Use Fill a cup with 200 mL of fresh, cold drinking water. For babies under 6 months, use freshly boiled and cooled water. Empty the contents of one sachet into the 200 mL of water and stir until the HydraLyte powder is completely dissolved. Sip slowly and frequently while symptoms persist. Discard any unused solution after 2 hours, or within 24 hours if refrigerated. Do not mix HydraLyte with cordial, fruit juice, soft drinks, or sports drinks. Active Ingredients (per tablet) Glucose: 1.62 g Citric Acid: 672 mg Sodium (from Sodium Chloride): 34.5 mg Potassium (from Potassium Chloride): 78 mg Sodium (from Sodium Bicarbonate): 103.5 mg
